Experience
Partner and director of the firm’s Litigation Department, has been a trial lawyer for more than 20 years having participated in the most relevant civil and commercial processes that have been taken place in the Dominican Republic, especially companies and shareholder disputes, banking and creditor’s rights, commercial contracts, and intellectual property litigations in the areas of patents, trademarks and copyrights.
Some of the most relevant transactions of Hipolito Herrera are:
- Representation of an international package manufacturing in a lawsuit for contract execution.
- Representation of a local liquor and rum manufacturing in a complex civil litigation.
- Defense of a major tourist and real estate developer in land property litigation for more than US$25 million.
- Lead counsel of several parties in one of the biggest shareholders disputes in the country, originated by the death of the President of the oldest and main newspaper in Dominican Republic.
- Represented Tobacco Company in both trademark and copyright infringement in the Dominican Republic including several correctional complaints.
- Assisted the biggest Tobacco Company in the world in the litigation against the use of its slogan by the competitors
- Represented carmaker in a case of a lawsuit for damages regarding manufacturer’s liability.
