Intellectual Property Rights Law in Dominican Republic
Patent Registration
For the registration of a patent in the Dominican Republic, the institution in charge of the processes for issuance of patent certificates is the National Office of Industrial Property (ONAPI).
In this order, the information and documents that are necessary for filing a patent application at ONAPI are the following:

Title of the invention/industrial design/utility model;
Information regarding the owner of the invention/industrial design/utility model; -
Information regarding the inventor;

Two copies of the description of the invention (including description, one or more vindications, summary and drawings if applicable);

Power of Attorney, duly legalized before the Dominican
-
Consulate of the corresponding jurisdiction and translation into the Spanish language;
-
Assignment document, in case the inventor is not the applicant, also duly legalized;
-
Certified copy of the priority document, with its translation to the Spanish language;

The legal fees for the presentation of the patent registration application are of US$550 (including priority claim). Once the publication takes place, in order to proceed with the examination, our fees are for US$250. Regarding legal costs, the approximate amount for the presentation is US$200, including publication payment and then for examination purposes approximately US$175.
Additionally, please be informed that in order to maintain a patent registration or application in the Dominican Republic, you must pay annuity fees, according to our Law 20-00, dated May 8th, 2004.
