SANTO DOMINGO.- Two or three laboratories dedicated to violate patents’ rights in the country, are the ones radically against DR-CAFTA.
The Association of Representatives, Agents and Pharmaceutical Producers assured that those laboratories (not more than four) in the whole country, "have been dedicated to violate those rights (patents), leaning on legal loop holes and the weakness of Dominican justice".
The pharmaceutical organization showed that as result of DR-CAFTA, these sectors will be out of business because new medicines will be protected against non authorized manufacture and will be produced under absolute sanitary conditions.
The 20 year patent rights extension means that if a product has been produced under patent for the last 10 years, now it only has 10 more years protection.
