House of Representatives approves Contract and Hiring Law

SANTO DOMINGO.- The House of Representatives approved last night, after declaring urgent, the project of law for Public Hiring, Acquirement, Work, Services and State Concessions which had already been approved by the Senate the past month of April.

This legislation constitutes one of the requirements for implementing DR-CAFTA.

In a marathonic session that extended beyond midnight the representatives also declared urgent and approved the law project which creates the new Penal Code.

After intense debates around article 223-13 on the illegal interruption of pregnancy, the modifications to this article, were let on the table to be discussed in the session summoned for next Monday.
