Santo Domingo.- Dominican ports operate according to regulations established by international trade, and are ready to handle demands of the Free Trade Agreement with Central America and the United States.
According to the president of the Association of Dominican Shipping Companies, Gustavo Tavares, the ports of Haina, Caucedo and La Romana meet the certification standards required by the United Nations and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Dominican ports are ready for the DR-CAFTA, “are in good conditions” and expansion work is ongoing.
“Customs [Agency] has done a commendable job, in preparing for the Accord,” surmised Tavares.
