Santo Domingo.- The Industry and Commerce (SEIC) minister informed this Wednesday that the Dominican Republic had concluded satisfactorily the process of harmonizing documents indispensable to implementing the Free Trade Agreement with Central America and the United States.
Francisco Javier Garcia stated that during this process, the parties ironed out all pending laws pertinent to Industrial Property Rights (20-00), Copyright (65-00), Government Purchases, and issues related to the Agriculture sector and to textiles.
Garcia spoke at a press conference held yesterday afternoon, alongside Foreign Trade director Vilma Arbaje, and Guarocuya Felix, director of the National Planning Office (ONAPLAN).
The official announced that next Monday the DR-CAFTA Implementation Law would be brought before both chambers of the National Congress. This legislation encompasses all the legal modifications necessary for implementing the treaty.
