Santo Domingo.- Next January, a meeting will take place in the country with a representative of the United States Trade Office (USTO), where the public and private sectors are to participate, aiming at identifying and approving concrete measures with a view to improving competitiveness of the U.S. and Dominican textile industries.
The information was offered by the executive vice-president of the Dominican Association of Duty Free Zones (AOZONA), Jose Torres, upon participating in a local morning talk shows this week.
According to Torres, conditions stipulated by the Free Trade Agreement with the United States and Central America (DR-CAFTA) could improve for the Dominican Republic as a consequence of discussions to be held.
Work is being undertaken to identify projects and areas for which competitiveness would be improved in addition to the textile industry.
