Santo Domingo.-The Industry and Commerce minister Francisco Garcia yesterday met with representatives of the business sector, to analyze delays in implementing the Free Trade Agreement with the United States.
Representatives of the National Business Council (Conep), the American Chamber of Commerce and the Vehicle Importers Associatio attended the meeting. Also present were business representatives from the pharma, telecom and duty free zone sectors.
Despite the Minister’s reiteration that all is ready to go, implementation of the trade accord has repeatedly been postponed.
Garcia took the issue a step further yesterday, as he reportedly cautioned that the country was in no disposition to entertain further discussions on the DR-CAFTA.
