Santo Domingo.-A business mission from Guatemala composed of eight firms will visit the Dominican Republic from the 21st through the 23rd of February, to present its products and do business with locals, according to diplomatic sources.
Firms expected to arrive process foods, beverages, furnitures and textiles, according to the Business Chargé of the Guatemalan embassy in the country, Efe Nestor Monrroy.
The trade balance between the two nations is favorable to Guatemala, which in 2006 exported to the Dominican Republic 78.5 million dollars, according to Monrroy.
Traditionally, the Dominican Republic and Guatemala basically trade with medications, textiles flour and plastic.
In 2004, Dominicans signed a free trade agreement with Central America and the United States, which is still not implemented.
